Advice to someone wanting to start their own weight loss journey:
Make a list of all the reasons why you want to and should lose weight. If it’s for a specific one-time event you are bound to fail. What normally happens is that you get to that event than the cycle starts all over again. Your motivation must come from wanting a long-term life change. Once you set your long term goal it’s important to set short term goals (wins). The first two weeks are the hardest. Once you make it pass that you are rolling. That’s why it’s important to not to look ahead, but to look at each day and celebrate your daily wins. Once you start seeing the results you’ll become even more motivated to stay on course.
Tell us about your weight loss transition from where you were to where you are now:
I’d always been a good athlete and in excellent shape growing up. The past 10 years I’ve gotten married and had three wonderful boys. My busy schedule as a husband, father, and school principal took most of my time and left little time for the gym. That coupled with a horrible diet left me over weight, sluggish, and unmotivated. I put on 55 pounds. After taking some visitors on tours of my school campus I noticed I was breathing heavily and struggling to talk. In addition to that, I was always tired and struggled to have enough energy to play with my three boys. After seeing a picture of myself from our boy’s baptism I knew it was time to make a healthy change in my life. My brother and I began this journey together seven weeks ago. I’ve stuck to the diet and have done very little training up to this point. By following the guidelines outlined in the One Body program, I’ve lost 30 lbs. in seven weeks.
One Body made a difference in my life because…
Obviously there has been a huge difference in my appearance. I always have people commenting on how good I look. However, the biggest difference is in the way I feel. I’ve become stronger, have more energy, and have higher confidence in how I look. My ability to focus has increased and I have regained the motivation I once lost. My life feels recharged!
