What are sleep apnea treatments?
Our sleep apnea treatments are performed with the Fotona NightLase® system. This non-surgical, non-invasive treatment uses an Er: YAG laser to shrink the parapharyngeal tissue, which helps reduce, eliminate, and stop snoring along with other symptoms of sleep apnea. The laser energy is used to heat the oral mucosa tissue, which causes the tissues to tighten and improve the effects of sleep apnea and reduces the intensity and duration of snoring. The results of our non-surgical sleep apnea treatments can last for up to one year. NightLase® is a good option for patients who are interested in an alternative to medication or CPAP machines.
Benefits of our Sleep Apnea Treatments:
- Improves sleep quality
- Quick treatment sessions
- Reduces or can stop snoring
- Improves the effects of sleep apnea
- No downtime
When will I experience results?
Most patient experience a noticeable decrease in the intensity of snoring after their first NightLase® treatment session. With each successive treatment session, you should experience continued improvement in snoring and other effects of sleep apnea. Individual results may vary from patient to patient.
How many treatments will I need?
We typically recommend a series of at least three NightLase® treatments spaced about three weeks apart in order to achieve the maximum effectiveness of this sleep apnea treatment. Some patients may require fewer or additional treatment sessions in order to achieve their optimal results.
Is there any downtime?
Our sleep apnea treatments do not have any downtime or recovery period associated with them and many of our patients are able to immediately return to their normal activities after a treatment session.
What are the potential side effects?
The most common side effect associated with NightLase® treatments is a mild sore throat that typically develops immediately after your treatment session. This is a temporary side effect that should resolve on its own within one week.
